About
The Print Room was established in 2011 by local Artist-Printmaker and Educator, Susie Turner. From her studio, in Cambridgeshire, Susie offers small group workshops and master classes in Contemporary Fine Art Printmaking. The Print Room also sells unique fine art prints hand made by the artist.
Susie grew up in rural North West Essex. She initially trained and worked as an illustrator before pursuing her interest in Printmaking. Susie studied a first degree in Fine Art Printmaking at Cambridge School of Art and gained a Masters in Visual Art / Printmaking at Camberwell College of Arts, UAL. Much of her work is inspired by the transient state of nature, patterns of growth and decay, and the interdependency between humankind and nature. The local, natural landscape is a constant source of visual ideas and Susie often works directly with objects 'found' and 'made'.
As an artist-educator, Susie has helped raise the profile of Printmaking as a medium for learning by sharing her skills and knowledge with schools, colleges, charities, museums and galleries. As well as encouraging the development of artist's ideas through print and supporting arts education, Susie is keen to combine traditional methods with contemporary techniques. This has led her to explore the potential of Printmaking with Photopolymer Plates / Solarplate using sunlight and water. Solarplate is an innovative, versatile method which allows direct engagement with objects of nature and accuracy in capturing detail.
